Thomas Schachtner, Dr.

Dr. Thomas Schachtner is a senior anesthesiologist, intensivist, and certified business coach based in Munich, Germany. With more than two decades of clinical experience, he has combined medical expertise, leadership in crisis, and a strong commitment to education and patient safety. He studied medicine in Munich and completed his doctoral thesis on the hemodynamic changes of ischemic preconditioning in hepatic surgery. His clinical training included anesthesiology, hemostaseology, cardiac and pediatric cardiac anesthesia, and intensive care medicine at the University Hospital of Munich. Since 2015 he has served as Senior Consultant in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at Schoen Klinik München Harlaching, where he also leads the immunohematology laboratory and transfusion committee. Beyond clinical care, Dr. Schachtner has been deeply engaged in medical education and international collaboration. He is a long-standing faculty member of the ESAIC “Teach the Teachers” program, examiner for the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (EDAIC), and organizer of online assessments. His expertise includes hemostaseology, transfusion medicine, and patient safety, with a special interest in morbidity & mortality conferences and peer support. In recent years, he has expanded his qualifications into leadership training and business coaching. Having completed internationally accredited programs (ICF & EMCC), he is preparing to support healthcare leaders, who face financial constraints and systemic change. He also explores the integration of artificial intelligence into medicine and leadership.
