At school I enjoyed German and Russian languages, music, sciences and mathematics, eventually studied maths and science 'A'-levels then did a mathematics degree at Warwick University. After a false start in pure mathematics research in Liverpool, I became interested in social work and did some voluntary work in that city then worked for thirteen years unqualified and later Qualified for a borough in the East End of London. The technical background revived however, and I did a software engineering conversion masters degree then worked for some nineteen years in several jobs as a software engineer. After becoming redundant aged 57, I worked for some three years after as a professional social worker on temporary contracts predominantly in stressful local government child protection social work settings. I did temporary factory labouring and warehouse work jobs for a bit, and some sales work, completing my National Insurance contribution record, but then my workplace pensions started to kick in and I have been retired for more than fifteen years. From around 2021 till her death in mid 2024, my wife became increasingly badly affected by dementia she already knew she had, and I was increasingly occupied with caring for her, putting on 'hold' other decisions in my own life. After her death much sooner than expected, I threw myself into music study and instrument practice and jazz study, continuing a lifelong involvement in amateur music-making, but it was not what I wanted to do, absorbing though it may have been. Then I saw a Facebook advertisement for MindValley placed by a respected former music colleague, and I eventually joined and undertook quests that seemed to lead to better insight into my goals. Another Facebook advertisement, this time for the MindValley Hypnotherapy course, seemed even more relevant and worthwhile, and I subsequently joined the course from the webinar with a member's discount and having graduated am busy establishing myself professionally.
