Jan Falconer

I am an experienced Public sector leader working in and across complex organisation, community engagement and support, business and economic development, project reporting, working with third, private and public sectors, influencing and negotiating and working in a political environment. Articulate, with extensive media and presentation exposure. With over 13 1/2 years of experience in politically restricted senior posts in Scottish Local Government. 8 years with Aberdeen City and 5 years in rural Scotland, from the Northern Isles to the South of Scotland. I recently acquired over 5 years of experience as a Special Advisor in the Economy in English Local Government. Added to this I possess a further 11 years in senior roles in the New Zealand private and public sector. These experiences are coupled with over 28 years of continued membership in the Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand, formerly the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants. In Scotland, I developed skills and experience in partnership working; Community engagement and consultation, development and implementing. I have a strong understanding of Executive Leadership, working in a political environment at the highest level, leading scale projects, funding, and investment attraction. Six of those years were spent as both a Head of Service and Strategic Director. Since retiring in 2019 I have held several senior roles as an Interim Manager and advisor. I have developed strategies, planned regeneration projects, and taken an active role in revitalising town centres. I hold and Executive MBA, Postgraduate and Masters in Public Health, all gained when working in the New Zealand Health sector. It is my aim to use all the gifts god has given me for the betterment of me, my family and others.
