Born and raised in mainland China, Kate initially pursued the conventional path of studying "Math and Engineering" in Hong Kong which earned her instant career success with a six-figure salary as an option trading quantitative analyst in her early twenties. However, the cut-throat, male-dominated trading floor culture left her feeling inadequate and like an imposter, constantly striving to fit in.
